Sustainability

Striving for self-sustainability, our village aims to establish micro-enterprises that provide necessities for our community and generate income through sales. As nutrition is integral for children's health and development, we have prioritized building local food production capabilities. By supplying our own food and selling the surplus, we take the first steps toward a self-reliant village economy.

Developing Micro-Enterprises to Provide Needed Products.

  • Aquaponics System

The Tilapia Farm is a sustainable aquaponic system, first stocked in April 2013, that yields seafood and plants for The Village by filtering fish tank water to fertilize growing beds.

  • Chicken Enterprise

The Village has two large poultry coops housing up to 1,000 chicks that are raised for 6 weeks before half are used for Village food and half are sold to the public.

  • Fruit Orchard & Vegetable Gardens

The Village's grove has 32 maturing fruit trees of various varieties that yield an increasing annual harvest for community consumption.

  • Tuck Shop

Just inside the front gate, in between Hope Clinic and Breath of Heaven Academy, is our Tuck Shop. Think of this as a local convenience store.
